Influence of classical music
As we all know classical music is one of the best known music type all over the world. Do you know someone who doesn't know about Mozart or Chopin? I don't think so.
Anyway, going to the subject, I've already known that all kinds of music can boost your mood. But what I came across is that some scientists proved that classical music can lower your blood pressure or even make your IQ bigger. Unfortunately it is a short term effect, but it can be used as a brain warm up before doing something which needs abstract thinking. Despite that, majority of people don't think listening to some special tyle of music can magically boost your intelligence, in their opinion it is occured by placebo. But one is sure- if you feel anxious, listening to music that you like releases dopamine, which is in charge of stress reduce. What is unique is, that classical music has calming properties, and one doctor said that it seems to clarify your mind. What caught my attention the most is one surgeon claiming that Mozarts sonatas make some of his patients reach for pain medicine less. Also what this doctor has found is that a half of the brains of his pupils release a hormone which results in faster regeneration.

From what I've read, listening to classical music doesn't have any long term effects indeed. It has calming properties though but I suppose you have to listen to appropriate pieces - some modern classical music would only make you anxious or aggressive.
